Greenvale is a hamlet on the North Shore of Long Island. Greenvale is bordered by Roslyn Harbor to the west, Brookville to the north and northeast, and East Hills to the south and southeast. Prior to being known as Greenvale, the area was also called Week's Station, North Roslyn, and Wheatley Hills. The area was once owned by affluent families including the Fricks, Whitneys, Phippses, and the Vanderbilt's. Long before the Civil War, cattlemen used the area as a stopping off spot to spend the night at the Bull's Head Hotel while on their way to New York City. The hotel burned to the ground at some point and today it is the location of the Mobil gas station.

Greenvale is served by the Roslyn School District as well as the North Shore Central School District. Those living in the western half of Greenvale attend Roslyn School district along with Roslyn Heights, Roslyn Estates, Roslyn Harbor, Flower Hill, and East Hills, while those living in the eastern section attend North Shore Central School District along with students from Glenwood Landing, Glen Head, Old Brookville, Roslyn Harbor, and Sea Cliff. The area is dotted with a variety of colonial style homes as well as contemporary providing a very unique community that is close knit and family oriented.
